When your beloved pet passes away, it’s very difficult and emotional for you and your family. Our compassionate team is here to guide you through this time. We provide a range of end-of-life services at Western Suburbs Veterinary Clinic in Townsville and will make every effort to keep your furry friend comfortable as long as we can.
While we have a fully equipped surgical clinic and diagnostic centre, not all conditions are treatable. If your pet’s quality of life has significantly deteriorated or treatment is not viable, you may have to make a very difficult decision. Sometimes when a pet is in pain, preventing further suffering is the kindest thing you can do.
Our trained professionals are here to help you understand your options, and we can euthanise or ‘put to sleep’ your pet if required. Please call us on

While no one likes to think about the death of a pet, there are a few things we can do to ensure they are peaceful during their final moments. Once you have made the decision, our trained vets will administer a sedative to your pet, making them sleepy and unaware of their surroundings. Your pet will lose consciousness in seconds and will have no fear, though some natural reflexes may still occur (sighing, urinating, defecating). We then administer a lethal dose of anaesthetic.
After euthanasia procedures in our clinic we can advise on burial and cremation services to help you honour your beloved pet’s life. Our Townsville clients have the option of booking services through Pet Heaven, a privately owned pet cemetery and crematorium.
